What better Pacific Northwest experience can there be (other than cycling, of course) than snowshoeing on Mount Rainier? And for those of us not sure of what we’re doing, REI (based in Seattle!) offers day-long workshops.
This turned out to be a perfect day. The weather was simply spectacular, as you can see. The REI guides said it was perhaps the best weather they’d seen up there at this time of year, and certainly near the very top for days they’d led this seminar. And snowshoeing our way around a mountain both iconic and majestic was unforgettable.
“This is the sort of thing I’d go on vacation to do. And yet … we live here!!” — Paula
Remarkably, several of our classmates were long-time Seattlites who were visiting Rainier for the first time. Sort of like living in NYC and making it to a Broadway show only rarely. When you live in a place, you tend to take it for granted.
